General info Transfer from Dubrovnik to Mljet: Jadrolinija
Jadrolinija Sobra (Mljet) to Prapratno (penninsula Peljesac) ferry Dear LIDA Participants, We would like to use this opportunity and give you several pieces of information that you may find useful. When you arrive at the Dubrovnik airport, you can take the bus (cca 30 kn / 4,5 EUR ) or the taxi (cca 200 kn / 27,5 EUR) to reach the city center. LIDA 2007 sessions will take place at the Inter-University Center (IUC) (Don Frana Bulica 4, outside the Old Town). Inter-University Center is easily reachable from your hotel, either on foot or by public transport. Please ask at your hotel about local buses' schedules and rates. Please take a look at http://www.iuc.hr/u_map1.html or http://www.ffos.hr/lida/slike/iucmap.jpg for the map of the town Dubrovnik where IUC is marked. Onsite registration, for participants of Workshop A and Workshop B only, opens on Monday, May 28th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the IUC, and for all other LIDA participants Monday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Opening session is scheduled for Monday 3 p.m. Monday evening at 7 p.m. Welcome party for all LIDA participants (including accompanying persons) shall take place at the IUC courtyard. Both Tuesday and Wednesday at 1 p.m. a visit to Dubrovnik State Archives and Franciscan Monastery Library shall be organized. LIDA participants can chose each day which of these valuable institutions and their collections they want to have a closer look at. Sign up sheets shall be available at the Information desk. Tuesday evening, May 29th, there will be an exhibition Croatian Books from 16th Century in the collection of the University Library of Rijeka, opening at 19:30 at Dubrovnik Research Library. Wednesday evening, May 30th, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. is reserved for the Poster session with cheese and wine. Please note that the Conference is moving to the nearby island of Mljet on Thursday morning, May 31st, at 10 a.m. from the port Gruz. Transfer from Dubrovnik to Mljet and back from Mljet to Dubrovnik is included in the registration fee. However, you must get to port Gruz on your own (map will be provided in the conference materials and directions given at the information desk). Also, make sure you booked a room in hotel Odisej on Mljet! Friday morning is reserved for PhD forum sponsored by ASIST and invited speakers. Closing session and panel is scheduled for Friday, early afternoon, and will be moderated, as always, by professor Tefko Saracevic. Friday afternoon is free for those participants who have not signed up for workshops E and F and we suggest that if you are free, you take a tour (on bike, boat or on foot) in the nearby national park or have a swim in the beautiful Adriatic sea. The return from Mljet to Dubrovnik is scheduled for Friday afternoon, June 1st, at 6 p.m. This should leave enough time for participants flying from Dubrovnik on Saturday after 9:30 p.m. If you need to be in Dubrovnik earlier than that, please, make sure to check for additional connections and ferries to Dubrovnik, and transfer option by Hotel Odisej at Mljet, or ask at the Information desk. Also, make sure to check with your hotel, if you need an extra night in Dubrovnik on your way home from Mljet, whether your room is booked. There will be several students at the Registration/Information desk throughout the conference at the IUC and hotel Odisej on Mljet so please feel free to ask them whatever problem/question you might have.
