The International Children’s Digital Library: Connecting Children and Books Through Technology

Abstract:
The International Children’s Digital Library (ICDL) is a full-text library of children’s
books from all over the world that is freely available via the Internet. Developed by an
interdisciplinary, intergenerational research team at the University of Maryland, the
collection currently includes contemporary and historic children’s books in 35 languages
from more than 40 countries. The interface is available in eleven languages. The presentation will discuss findings from the first three years of the study and provide an overview of future directions.
