LIDA 2010 PhD forum

CALL FOR PROPOSALS Submissions deadline 26th Feb 2010

ASIS&T-European Students Chapter sponsors in cooperation with ASIS&T European Chapter a PhD Forum open to graduate students (both PhD and Master's are encouraged to apply) at the LIDA 2010 conference in Zadar, Croatia. The forum is organised by Cathal Hoare (University College Cork, Ireland) and Karin Karlics (University of Graz, Austria). The best submitted proposal will receive the ASIS&T-ESC Best Research Proposal Award 2010. All doctoral and master's level students are welcome to submit research proposals not longer than 4 pages to the workshop no later than 26th February to Cathal Hoare to hoare@cs.ucc.ie. Please refer to the LIDA conference site for formatting instructions and themes of the conference.
Papers should include the following general structure:

  • motivation for the proposed research
  • background and related work
  • description of proposed research, including main research questions
  • research methodology

Participants will be selected on the basis of the quality of the proposal and the potential to benefit of the participation at the forum. Notifications of acceptance will be emailed by the 17th March 2010. All participants will be given a copy of the proposals of the other participants. At the forum all participants will make a brief presentation to introduce their proposals and time for discussion. The forum is intended to be a not-so-scary occasion where everyone gets a possibility to benefit of the comments and experiences of moderators and peers and a chance to network.
